Experienced Structural Welder - Rio Grande Valley (McAllen/Brownsville)

About the Position

Tarpon Specialty Services is seeking experienced Structural Welders for long-term industrial projects in the Rio Grande Valley, serving McAllen, Brownsville, and surrounding communities. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled welders looking for stable, long-term work with a growing specialty services company.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding using flux core (FCAW) processes on industrial projects

• Execute back gouging operations to prepare weld joints

• Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings

• Maintain quality welds that meet project specifications and industry standards

• Follow all safety protocols and procedures on the job site

• Work collaboratively with project teams and supervision

• Inspect completed welds and perform quality control checks

• Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper functionality

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of flux core welding experience (FCAW required)

• 2+ years of back gouging experience

• Structural welding background in industrial or commercial settings

• Ability to pass welding certification tests as required by project

• Valid photo ID and ability to pass background check

• Reliable transportation to Rio Grande Valley job sites

• Physical ability to work in various positions and conditions

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Preferred Qualifications

• Current welding certifications (AWS, ASME, or equivalent)

• Experience in petrochemical, energy, or industrial construction projects

• OSHA safety training or certifications

• Experience working on fabrication or module construction projects

• Structural welding experience

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills

Compensation & Schedule

• Schedule: Full-time, overtime available

• Pay: Competitive hourly rate

• Per Diem: Available for candidates
